Megan was a spacemaster character I played in a space opera science fiction campaign. She came from a priviledged background; her Aunt was the head of a planetary government. When Megan was 14, her home system was invaded by the Draconanians and her government surrendered. She didn't accept this and ran away from home to try and join a resistence. She didn't get very far and was thrown into a prison, but managed to escape due to some mysterious help.
During the game I kept a journal she wrote during her travels. It was written to her clone that was kept in cold sleep back on her home planet. It was a common practice for rich families to keep frozen clones of family members, periodically downloading memories and growing the bodies in case the "original" should die. Megan liked the idea that she could tell herself how she turned out, and she didn't expect to live for much longer.
I won't present the whole journal here, since it's over 60 pages and who wants to wade through all that, but I'll throw up a few random excerpts.
Here's one from when she went on a mission to fly some infantry down to a planet and on the trip back they had to be frozen becuase of fear of contagion. There were heavy casualities.
